South Coast, Widenham Point to Scottburgh
Widenham point
Take Umgababa turn-off and follow coast road southwards. After crossing the umkomaas river you will go under a railway bridge. 5oom further on your left will be a garage. Turn left into Rozel road. Follow road round to Vista road. Park at end of road and dive off the point. The reef starts off the point and goes out to 20m. The scattered reef in 5m+ is very good for snoek although the deeper reef does not attract a lot of reef fish. There is another reef further north off the railway bridge in 10m+ that is good for rock lobster and some fish.
Green Point
Carry on with the coastal road and turn left at the Clansthal turn-off. Park in the caravan park on your immediate right and walk down road to point, approximately 2km. The reef starts in 8m and goes out to 20m. The point reef is good for a variety of fish and this is a good spot to dive during the sardine run. Deeper reef is good for rock lobster but not much resident fish.
Scottburgh
55km south of Durban. Follow sign boards to main bathing beach. The point off the tidal pool is good for garrick and brusher during the run. Further south off the caravan park is scattered reef extending out to the shark nets. This area is good for rock lobster and big kingfish seem to come in along here. Also very good for big cuda during the sardine run. Further south off the golf course scattered reefs run in 15m+ all the way to station reef at Park Rynie. A good drift to pick up a mixed bag of fish and rock lobster.
